Born To Dance

I pull my hair back into a neat bun

Finishing touches to everything

smooth my red dress

tie my balett shoes

and walk to center stage.

My name is called

I flash a smile to the crowd and take my pose

the music starts

familiar notes i have come to know by heart

i step up into point, and set off

The music sends a jolt of adrenaline pulsing through my veins

This is the feeling i live for

The feeling i was born to discover

The feeling that is like a drug to me

This is the feeling of performing

The crowd is at the edge of their seats

As i twirl and spin

leap and arabesque

Do what i love more then anything

Show everyone what i am capable of

The music begins to slow

I do my final 6 turns in a row

Slide into the splits

tuck my legs under, roll up

and end in my finishing pose

The crowd i silent for a few moments

I am staring and smiling

Frozen

heart pounding a million miles a minute

thoughts racing

Then they applaud

loud

people are standing up, cheering

my first solo, and i get a standing ovation

I sigh with relief and take some bows

As i bow over and over

They begin to throw flowers to me

My eyes pool over with tears of delight

I was born to do this

Born to Dance
